The scene is set in Manhattan, circa 1941. Seventy-five years ago at an inventors workshop, located in a building down a narrow alley called “41 Murray St.”; the Chemex was born. The larger tale is one of eccentricity, curiosity, perseverance and invention.
This story inspired our “Home of the Chemex” poster which we lovingly created for the New York Coffee Fest. Due to such high demand for the beautiful piece, we have decided to add it to our collection for your to take home. It features our very first Chemex logo and a vintage drawing of our beloved carafe. The “X” on the subway map marks the spot of Dr. Schlumbohm’s legendary apartment where he designed the iconic Chemex coffeemaker.
We are thrilled to have partnered with The Department of Brewology on this beautiful, hand drawn illustration celebrating our 75th anniversary. Featured in the poster is Dr. Peter Schlumbohm, admiring his timeless and iconic invention - the Chemex Coffeemaker. In their classic and unique style, The Department of Brewology has created this work of art in which to honor the legendary inventor.
